Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get credit for subject I have done overseas?

In Australia this is called RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning). You can receive exemptions for studies you have done overseas as long as you can demonstrate that you have the same level of skill required in the Australian course. You will need to make an appointment for RPL by the end of the first week of the course. Applications are made through the Head of Department where you are studying. You should bring original copies of all your academic transcripts as well as a brief outline for the subjects you studied. RPL will NOT be granted in circumstances which would reduce your course to less than a full-time load.

Does Holmesglen provide email facilities?

Holmesglen provides free email and internet access to all international students.

Can I do my course in less time?

You can 'fast track' your course if your timetable allows. Holmesglen is open seven days a week. You can do additional subjects at the weekend or in the evenings. As long as you have paid a full semester's fee, you can do as many subjects as you like. You must always maintain a full-time course load.

What if my English level is not high enough after I've completed my ELICOS program?

You would generally be counselled not to proceed with your formal course and to do a further English language program. However, on the recommendation of your English language teacher and subject to your undertaking some additional, free, English language classes, it is possible for you to continue your formal studies. Alternatively, you may choose to undertake a further ELICOS program and take up one or two formal course modules to see how you cope.
